Welcome! You’ve found your way to the All that is Tim Burrell web site.
I currently work as a compiler developer by trade, but I have spent the last 10 years or so in the computing machine industry under a variety of capacities, doing everything from Unix system administration, and IT support, to network security, and [mostly] software development, with a bit of web development thrown in wherever I was unable to avoid it
.
I hold a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Dalhousie University, where I did my research in the Computer Graphics and Visualization Lab on real-time fluid simulations for realistic fluid flows over arbitrary terrains (ie, river rendering). For more information on my thesis, you can check out its project page.
Aside from my professional and academic work I am also the author of (or am involved with) a few open source projects, the major one being Gizmod — a Linux utility for scripting and controlling applications with alternate input devices.
In my spare time I maintain a development / technology related blog, which is geared mainly toward programming languages, compilers, and software development, but if it’s geeky and interesting [to me] chances are I’ll post about it.
